Frequently asked questions
Can old wiring use more electricity?
No! Old appliances and fittings can though. As older units are less efficient and wear down over time. Modern equipment uses new technology to be more efficient and cost less to run.
How disruptive is electrical renovation?
This totally depends on the amount of work you have done. A full house renovation may cause quite a bit of distribution as we would need to get in all rooms and take flooring up. But we always work alongside our customers, creating the best flow for any job that we carry out. Leaving our customers with nothing to worry about.
What are the signs that I should renovate my home electrics?
If you wish to add lots of extra electrical items such as lights and sockets or you are finding you are having a lot of ongoing faults with the current electrical installation. The best way if you are unsure is to have an EICR carried out, this will give you a full “MOT” of your electrical installation and show you what needs upgrading.
How often should you rewire a house?
There is no set date. This all depends on the level of quality of electrical installation. If you are finding you are having a lot of faults, then you may wish to have an EICR carried out to show you the level of what your house electrics are at, or you may want to renovate your property which would end up needing a partial or full rewire there is access to the floors and ceilings.
A rewire of any kind is always easier and often cheaper when other building/renovation work is being carried out, as floors and ceilings would have already been lifted or taken down, making the electrical work faster.
